GoFest in Roanoke – Elmwood Park

Visit the Roanoke Master Gardeners booth at GoFest!  This year we are presenting Vermicomposting demonstrations.  The demonstration will include learning how to set up the box where the worms live. We will show the substrate required for them to live in. Everything you need to know about the box, types  of food scraps you can put in there, as well as the water requirements for the worms. Patrons are welcome to stick their hands in the box and pull out a worm, or give the worms a mist.  Taking care of these little creatures will give you amazing compost for your garden.

Handouts will be provided so patrons can make their own worm composting bin as well as understand the benefits of having one.
