How to Become a Stream Monitor – Roanoke River Project Intro Workshops
February 4 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
There are two intro workshops for the Roanoke River Project; one on Saturday February 4th 10:30 am-12:00 pm and Thursday February 9th 5:30 pm-7:00 pm.
The intro workshop provides an overview of the program, how to collect a water quality sample, and the steps to become a certified monitor with the Roanoke River Project. This would be the first requirement for anyone that wants to become a trained & certified stream monitor.
After volunteers complete this intro workshop, they will be invited to attend a series 3-4 field stream training workshops (later in Feb & March when the weather is warmer), and then finally a certification and exam session if they wish to adopt their own monitoring sites. There are several sites currently up for adoption!
The workshops have limited spots, so we would encourage anyone interested to sign up while they can! No prior experience is required. If the two workshops fill up, and there are still folks that are interested in going through the training this spring, a third intro workshop will be opened.
